Imagine an alternative universe, in which Control magazine is not an artwork published and edited by Stephen Willats, but a Liverpool-based community interest company with more than 250 staff trading in the UK today.
Join artist Rosalie Schweiker and writer Sarah Jury in creating a live action role play that will address the ethics of power and politics of care relating to Control magazine.
How are social art practices are made visible? Who is able to represent and author their work? What does not-for-profit mean? Is it ok for an artwork to be subjective and shaped by personal networks? Or should art be audited like any other entity trading in this society?
No previous knowledge about Control magazine or the art world is needed, just a sense of curiosity. During the workshop, you will be given a character sheet and task cards with opportunities. There will be roles for extrovert as well as introvert people and we will make time to debrief afterwards at Tate Exchange. This LARP is for people aged 16 and over.
