National Thank a Teacher Day is a celebration of teachers and support staff all over the UK. We all know our teachers and everyone working at school make it SO much better. So join this drawing competition to celebrate all the ways they have helped you this year!

What do I need to do?

Have you ever wondered what your teacher gets up to during the summer holidays?

Think about it - where do you think your teacher goes when school's finished? Are they building sandcastles on a beach? Organising their button collection? Maybe they're having ice cream for breakfast or learning a new skill!

Well, we want YOU to imagine it and create the most brilliant drawing or painting of your teacher enjoying their summer holidays for this year’s competition.

Email a photo of your drawing or painting to competitions@teachingawardstrust.com by 18th June 2025

The top three artworks have a chance to win a £50 voucher and a bundle of exciting art supplies. The winning pictures will be featured here!

You can also explore other exciting competitions on the Thank a Teacher website. You can even send a free thank you card to your teacher or someone at your school making a difference!

Please visit this website with an adult. Submissions are sent directly to National Thank a Teacher Day - please see their Terms and Conditions for more information about how your data may be stored.

how to get started

To start your portrait, think about -

  • Who is the teacher you want to celebrate?
  • Why do you want to celebrate them?
  • What do you think they are doing this summer break? Use your imagination - the wilder the better!
  • Will they wear their everyday work clothes, or a super-duper outfit?
  • Where will they be in your portrait?

Take some inspiration from these artworks from Tate's collection. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
