Artist biography

Arnold MASON 1885–1963

Portrait and landscape painter. Born 20 March 1885 at Birkenhead. Studied at the Macclesfield School of Art, the R.C.A., the Slade School 1918–19, and in Paris and Rome. Assistant to Sir William Richmond on the decorations of the Old Bailey 1906–8. Served in the Artists' Rifles 1915–18. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1919; A.R.A. 1940, R.A. 1951. Died in London 17 November 1963.
