American painter, illustrator and author. Born in Louisville, Kentucky. Studied first in Munich, then in Paris in the studio of Carolus-Duran. Afterwards returned to the USA, becoming a contributor to the Louisville Courier-Journal. Also wrote and illustrated The Fairies' Circus (1903) and other children's books. Died at Louisville.
