Ronald GRAY 1868–1951

Figure and landscape painter in oil and watercolour. Friend and follower of Steer. Born 20 January 1868 in Chelsea, London, son of a heating engineer; after working in the family business studied under Jacomb Hood c. 1885, then at the Westminster School of Art under Fred Brown, and at the Académie Julian, Paris. Visited America in 1908, 1909 and 1910. Member of the N.E.A.C. 1923. Exhibited at the R.A. occasionally 1919–40 and at the Paris Salon (Silver Medal); one-man exhibition at the Goupil Gallery 1923. Died at the Charterhouse, London, 16 November 1951.
