'The sequence of photographs shows Kurt Schwitters in 1944 performing his Ursonate. The words are taken from Merz 24 “Ursonate, Theme II”, and the drawn image across the lower part of the print is derived from the shapes made by semaphore signs.’ (loc.cit.)
