This print is one of a series collectively called ‘Circuits’ within which there are four ‘Talledega’, three ‘Estoril’ prints, one ‘Imola’ and one ‘Pergusa’ print: all are named after motor racing circuits. The imagery was developed from two earlier print series, the ‘Polar Coordinates’ 1980, made in memory of the racing driver Ronnie Peterson, and the ‘Exotic Birds’ 1976–9, for which the curving templates used to plot railway lines were used. Estoril, once a Grand Prix track, is on the Portuguese coast.
