This building, fronted by a Doric colonnade or rotunda, remains unidentified. It appears to be a real structure rather than an idealised design, and was perhaps sketched in London, as were several prominent classical buildings in preparation for Turner’s Royal Academy perspective lectures, beginning in January 1811 (see the Introduction to the sketchbook).
