Folio 87 Verso:
Design for a Tower on a Bridge 1808
D06980
Turner Bequest CIV 86a
Pencil on white laid paper, 98 x 162 mm

Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. See note to the recto (D06979; Turner Bequest CIV 86) which has two drawings, one of a round tower – apparently the water tower in the Moat at Tabley – and another set on a bridge. Here, the tower has become octagonal, and more medieval in design.
