Catalogue entry

This is one of a number of studies of hulks (decommissioned, dismasted warships) interspersed with topographical sketches in the Hamoaze and lower reaches of the River Tamar north-west of Plymouth Sound between 3 recto and 29 recto (D09671–D09703). Here the hillside in the background may be the Torpoint Peninsula seen from the north, where the confluence of the St Germans or Lynher River with the Tamar forms the Hamoaze.
