Turner Bequest CCCLXIV 322
Display caption
These two watercolours were painted
on the same batch of paper. They show how Turner responded to the expressive possibilities in his materials. In both
works he is less concerned with
creating an exact sense of place,
than with evoking the stormy weather
he frequently encountered during
his travels in the Alps.
