Catalogue entry

This view of the River Kent at Kendal was made from the west of the river, at the top of Milnthorpe Road near where it turns into Kirkland. At the centre of the sketch are Nether Bridge and the spire of the Parish Church (see folio 14; D25787), which can be seen between the trees at the left. Castle Hill rises above the town with the ruins of Kendal Castle on its plateaued summit. Two figures stand in the foreground, also surveying the scene.
