This is the last of five successive drawings showing Warfleet, just south of Dartmouth on the Dart Estuary. The others are on folios 41 recto, 42 recto, 43 recto and 44 recto (D08856–D08859), and their general setting – the shoreline from the west, with houses and a tower on the north side – is discussed in the entry for the first.
Here the view is in the opposite direction, looking south-west along Warfleet Road down the hill seen in the background of the other drawings.
Verso:
Blank, save for very faint inscription by John Ruskin in red ink ‘4’ bottom left, upside down. There is some slight rubbing and brown spotting.
