Wols worked periodically on a group of copper etching plates but he never saw printed results. Despite his reputedly precarious lifestyle, the prints revealed an extraordinary delicacy of handling when they were printed posthumously. Their size encourages close investigation. The viewer is encouraged to follow the artist’s path into imaginative and microscopic worlds, which modify scientific notions of natural history.
