Drawn with the sketchbook inverted, this sketch is very slight sketch and related by Turner’s inscription meaning ‘ditto’ to folio 27 verso (D05419; Turner Bequest LXXXVII 44), which is annotated ‘Gravesend’. Folio 26 verso (D05417; Turner Bequest LXXXVII 42) also has a Gravesend sketch.
