Joseph Mallord William Turner 1775–1851
Folio 75 Verso:
Ruins by a River 1808

Pencil on white wove paper, 108 x 185 mm

Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. The subject is unidentified. The building, which seems to lack a roof, looks more like a house than an abbey.
