Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Rye is seen from the east, from the bank of the Rother. The view is hardly changed today.
Finberg recorded that this was one of four leaves from the sketchbook ‘found loose’.
The leaf is stained down the left margin.

Blank, inscribed by John Ruskin in red ink ‘150 I’ and by an unknown hand in pencil ‘45’
