Continued from folio 23 verso (D136243; CLXVII 22a) this sketch shows a similar view of Dunbar Castle from the west as the drawings over folios 18 verso–19 and 22 verso–23 (D13615–D13616 and D13621–D13622; CLXVII 17a–18 and 21a–22). All three sketches, although varying only slightly in viewpoint, exhibit different approaches to drawing. This present sketch uses strong outlines with some hatching to shows details and variations in the shape of rocks and ruins, combined with a freer approach to representing the rocky foreground. The drawing on folios 34 verso–35 (D13641–D13642; CLXVII 32a–33) repeats the view on the present page, though from closer to.
There is light foxing across the page.
