With the sketchbook inverted are two rows of sketches of shipping at Leith with the royal squadron (see folio 64; D17618). Turner uses his shorthand technique which, despite its sparsity, provides information about the type and size of boats (the number of masts, spars, sails etc.) and details such as the lines of bunting and flags on some of the vessels, and people onboard the boat at the left of the top row.
At the bottom right of the page is the continuation from folio 64 verso (D17619) of the view of Edinburgh from Leith with Arthur’s Seat.
