Drawn at the outside edge of the page with the book turned to the right is a sketch of the Main Street in Callander. In this view we look west along the street, with the old Parish Church at the right and Ben Ledi looming above. Two or three minute dark figures standing on the street contribute to the sense of scale and emphasise the size of the mountain. The fact that the sketch is drawn at the top of the page (in this format) suggests that Turner may have originally intended to make a series of related views running down the page. Instead there is a view looking east along the Main Street on folio 20 verso (D26699; CCLXXII 18). For references to further sketches of Callander and nearby sites see folio 33 (D26741; CCLXXII 39a).
