The main drawing on this page forms part of a landscape composition continued on the opposite sheet of the double-page spread, see folio 69 (D16041; Turner Bequest CLXXXVI 67). It appears to depict part of the Posillipo coastline to the west of Naples, although the precise location is currently unidentified.
The subject of the sketch on the right-hand side, parallel with the right-hand edge, is not conclusively identified although it may depict the church of Sant’Antonio a Posillipo, situated on the eastern slopes of the Posillipo Hill near Virgil’s Tomb and the entrance to the Grotto of Posillipo.
