This is the right half of a double-page spread continued from folio 54 verso (D10968), opposite, recording a detailed study of the south-east aspect of Middleham Castle, from a similar viewpoint to the previous sketch, folios 53 verso–54 (D10966–D10967), and supplying the detail for the following across the verso and folio 56 (D10970–D10971). Turner has drawn two architectural details, above right.
