i. (main sketch, the first of five sketches continued on the opposite page (D29293; Turner Bequest CCXCIV 44a) ‘1’ A fortified house on an eminence, looking down the Val d’Aosta at Arnad (or Arnaz) next to Barme, inscribed ‘Arnaz, Balm Valley’ lower right.
ii. (bottom left, the third of five sketches continued opposite (D29293) ‘3’ Looking north up the Val d’Aosta from near ‘Balm’ towards Verres, with Arnad church bottom right.
iii. (lower centre) Roadside buildings at Arnad, relating to sketch (ii) on the opposite page (D29293).
iv. (lower right) Issogne Castle, relating to sketch (i) on the opposite page (D29293).
