This double-page sketch, continued on folio 34 (Tate 18578; CCXI 34), depicts Paris from Montmartre.1 At the centre of the page is Les Invalides. See folio 32 verso (Tate D18575; Turner Bequest CCXI 32a) for further sketches of Paris. Turner also made a sketch at Montmartre on folio 39 (Tate D18585; Turner Bequest CCXI 39), and there is a view of the cemetery in the Dieppe, Rouen and Paris sketchbook: Tate D24553 (Turner Bequest CCLVIII 28).
