Following studies around Okehampton Castle and in the adjacent town, this sketch shows the latter looking south from Brightley Road (the Barnstaple road) alongside the River Okement, with the tower of All Saints Church on the hill above the town to the right; woods preclude a clear view today. There are similar studies on folios 56 recto and 57 recto (D09539, D09540). For other views of Okehampton, see under folio 43 recto (D09526).
