Inscribed by Turner in pencil ‘[?S...tor]’ and ‘D[...]’ top centre, and ‘Dartmoor’ bottom centre

The drawing is inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation. Turner noted this as a view of Dartmoor, but the two words above the horizon, presumably the names of distant landmarks including a tor (a granite outcrop), remain elusive. There may be another tor on the left, and there is appears to be a square tower in the middle distance. For other definite or likely Dartmoor views, see under folio 8 recto (D09489).
