This scene, showing a three-arched stone bridge among trees in the foreground, with a square church tower and a house to its left beyond against a hilly skyline, is presently unidentified, but probably in south Devon from its context in the sketchbook. The buildings appear to be the same as those in the view on the recto (D09664).
Technical notes:
The leaf is rubbed and stained halfway down the left-hand edge, and a small loss has been made good. This appears to have been caused by proximity to the brass clasp formerly set into the back cover.
