Though far less developed, this sketch is similar to the view of Theux on folio 27 (Tate D28093; Turner Bequest CCLXXXVII 27). Both formed the basis of a gouache, pen and ink and watercolour study on blue paper of the town (Tate D20280; Turner Bequest CCXXII U).
