This is a slighter version of the busy quayside scene at the old Billingsgate fish market near Old London Bridge on folio 36 verso (D17897), showing figures in and around lightly indicated boats; one wears a sou’wester hat. More than half the drawings in this sketchbook show the River Thames around the bridge, and are likely to date from 1824; see the Introduction.
