Drawn with the page turned vertically, this rapid sketch in one corner shows what seems to be the side elevation of a substantial building with a columned classical portico and an aedicule window or recess above arches projecting from corbels. Without immediate context the structure remains unidentified, but it is possibly either a large house in the Richmond upon Thames area or perhaps a church in the Low Countries, if it is accepted that some of the figure studies at each end of this sketchbook were made on tour there in August 1825; see the Introduction.
