This rough sketch of a distant town is thought to show Luxembourg.1 If this is correct, Turner is drawing from a vantage point on the plateau Bourbon. Various cursorily rendered details are sketched at the outer edge of the page: a view with an arched bridge, the profile of towers and spires and a hilly landscape.
