With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with three riverside views punctuated by buildings. A further vista runs vertically down the right-hand edge of the page. Turner travelled extensively around the satellite settlements of Paris in the Île-de-France with the sketchbook and also up the Marne River to the east of the city so these drawings were probably made in one of those regions.
