With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with a large, ornamented Gothic building. The sketch is too cursory in handling to suggest a definitive location for this scene although this volume contains drawings of multiple comparable structures in Paris, the Île-de-France, and along the Marne River to the east of the city. Lists of these are included in the sketchbook Introduction for comparison.
