Here Turner has rendered a view of Berlin looking along the River Spree towards the Waisenhauskirche (Church of the Orphanage) and the Waisenbrücke (Orphan’s Bridge). Boats are moored at the banks of the Spree; Turner has inscribed a note at bottom right reading ‘Neu [R...] | [...] Kolln am Wasser’.
