She was a British surrealist artist who wore many hats. As well as being a painter, Grace was a researcher and a surgeon in the First World War. This means you look much scarier than you actually are. If people could only look past your sharp teeth and claws, they would find a monster with a heart of gold! </p><p><br/></p><p>This painting is called <em>Doctor Dog</em> and it’s by British artist Paula Rego. Paula Rego is a visual artist who is well-known for her paintings and prints based on storybooks, and she was the first artist-in-residence at the National Gallery in London. Very cool. The monster in this painting might seem pretty scary with its red eyes but it’s really a kind monster, treating other monsters with its stethoscope.</p></section><section><h3></h3><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">You are a True Monster…</span></p><p></p><p>You could give Frankenstein's monster, King Kong and Dracula a run for their money … People should be really careful when you’re around because you are a truly terrifying monster! </p><p><br/></p><p>This painting is by Japanese artist Yamashita Kikuji. The imagery is chaotic and violent. With screaming mouths, distorted animals and floating limbs, the painting tries to capture the monstrosity of war. Kikuji wanted to show the devastating impact of war on ordinary people. He used his traumatic first-hand experiences of war to make these dramatic paintings.</p></section><section><h3></h3><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">You are a Monster in Training!</span></p><p></p><p>You’ve only been going to Monster Boot Camp for a few months and you’re still working on your roar. It is typical of his drawings which are often drawn on small scale pieces of paper – he first started working like this when his house burned down and he was forced to work in a hotel room!
