BP Saturdays: Loud Tate is a free annual art and music event at Tate Britain, run by young people for young people. Tate Forum, Tate Britain’s youth group, has put together an exciting programme of creative workshops dedicated to 15-25 year olds, from fashion to digital media, art to music. There will also be a range of exciting live music performances. For this year’s event Tate Forum have come up with the concept SUPERminitinyBIG and themed workshops to explore ideas of scale, hierarchy and the unmeasurable.
Music acts will include live performances from Ebony Bones, sets from Ramadanman dollop DJs, and the Rinse FM Academy create sound in response to Fiona Banner sculpture. As well as this, Platform magazine will record their “Boiler Room” radio show live on the day,
Highlights include:
- Hellcar and Lewis interactive digital workshop by reacting to sound and music by Jammer.
- Become rude with artist duo “The Girls” where you can transform yourself with photography, costumes and props inspired by the Rude Britannia exhibition.
- Create and construct images with an interactive iPad display using the Melodala app.
- Ryanrun Invitation: Akleirah, performing arts collective have created ten site-specific performances especially for Loud Tate.
- Make small sculptures to contribute to a large scale piece with Minimmense.
- Printclub: mix language and words on T-shirts in response to Art Now.
- Creative workshops: Tate Forum, Art Session, Youth in Action, Kultu and Young Tate explore the shifts in European art and culture. Cut The Chat TV show short films form their chat show.
Visitors can collect SUPER minitiny BIG wristbands as they move through the galleries to gain entry to the live music performances throughout the day.
Loud Tate is part of BP Saturdays, Tate Britain’s annual series of free events for families and young people. The series is supported by BP and each event draws on themes from the BP British Art Displays at Tate Britain. See Loud Tate 2009 on Youtube.
