Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the lower sketch shows a group of figures beside a small boat; they are probably fishermen, perhaps beaching or launching it. Towards the top are two landscape sketches, one above the other, which appear to show low coastlines with buildings and cliffs, which both continue on folio 35 recto opposite (D27790); the location or locations are as yet undetermined. There are various studies of fishermen, fish markets and coastal views in the sketchbook, particularly on adjacent pages at this end, as set out in the Introduction.
