Turning the sketchbook vertically, Turner used this page for several rough figurative studies. In the upper section are three figures at work, one carrying a load on their back, another possibly sweeping, and a third apparently blowing on a horn. Beneath is a wagon, presumably piled high with hay, driven by a single figure and pulled by oxen (or possibly horses) in the foreground. The sketchbook contains other quotidian scenes of rustic life, including on folios 13 verso and 50 verso (D21876, D21941).
