This is a sheet from the Brocklesby Mausoleum sketchbook, of which seven pages survive, disbound; see under D05159 (Turner Bequest LXXXIII 1). The sketch was presumably made at Brocklesby, though there is no direct evidence for the assumption beyond its presence in the book, devoted to studies made there on Turner’s visit in 1798.
