This sketch was not recorded in Finberg’s 1909 Inventory.1 There are four of five figures, probably male, gathered around while one of them seems to bend or stoop; they are possibly engaged in some form of outdoor game.
 
Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Technical notes:
The numbers and dark marks at the corners of the leaf indicate that the leaf was extracted and mounted in order to display the watercolour landscape on the recto (D20741) at some stage, although no exhibition history is recorded.
