The sketch shows a jagged skyline, currently unidentified, and perhaps a deep gorge towards the right. There are similar drawings on the recto (D13759). As discussed in the sketchbook’s Introduction, it is possible that they relate to Turner’s 1817 tour along the River Rhine in Germany.
