Both subjects were drawn with the page turned vertically. Among the characterful sketches of men and women apparently about their daily business is a child who appears to be holding something above a small dog which sits up and begs. The figure studies on folio 23 verso (D14360) were perhaps made on the same occasion. For others in this sketchbook, see under folio 18 verso (D14351).
