Both subjects were drawn with the page turned vertically. Among the characterful sketches of men and women apparently about their daily business is a child who appears to be holding something above a small dog which sits up and begs. The figure studies on folio 23 verso (D14360) were perhaps made on the same occasion. For others in this sketchbook, see under folio 18 verso (D14351).
Below is a separate drawing of a building on the crest of a hill among the cypress trees Turner notes, with others below and a plain or perhaps Lake Garda (see folio 21 verso; D14356) beyond.
