Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
The identification of Battle Abbey was correctly given by Edward Croft-Murray in pencil annotations to a copy of Finberg now in Tate’s Library. This is the end wall of the Dormitory. For Battle Abbey in this sketchbook see notes to folio 45 (D05662).
