Ben A’an is viewed in both sketches on this page from the west end of Loch Achray. The peak is seen in the first view, with the sketchbook turned so that the gutter is at the top, rising above the wooded hills of the Trossachs. The roof of a house can be seen at the left, though it is clearer in the second sketch which was made with the sketchbook inverted. This view is from a little further away, and shows more of the foreground with a number of houses at the north side of the loch.
Ben A’an is depicted in most of Turner’s sketches of Loch Achray; see folio 49 (D26532) for references.
