With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled this page with a study of large buildings with nearby trees, perhaps at a riverside locale. The handling is too cursory here to suggest a definitive location, although this volume contains numerous such landscapes taken in the countryside surrounding Paris and around the River Marne to the east of the city.
