Inverted in relation to the sketchbook as foliated, the loose town study in the centre of this page depicts Calais in Picardy, recognisable by its distinctively contrasting towers. For a more detailed drawing of these structures in the Turner Bequest see Tate D24857 (Turner Bequest CCLX 21). The sketch directly beneath presumably depicts the building at the bottom of the pier in that harbour town.
