These rough sketches were probably taken as Turner journeyed through mountains of western Bohemia towards the Bavarian border. The jottings continue onto the folio opposite (Tate D30752; Turner Bequest CCCIV 64).
The sketch inscribed ‘Eger’ depicts modern day Cheb in the Czech Republic, known in 1835 as Eger. Eger cast
