A summary profile of Christchurch Priory appears in the distance towards the right. The relative position of the tower’s north-eastern turret places Turner’s viewpoint to the south-east, across the Stanpit marshes. On the right may be indicated the edge of the rising ground now occupied by the Two Riversmeet golf course. There is a similar view on folio 24 recto (D08406); for other sketches made around Christchurch see under folio 22 recto (D08403).
