This rough sketch depicts cliffs on the east coast of England, with a lighthouse on the end of a jetty and buildings on the cliff top. It is one of several sketches of such a subject, and has not been firmly identified. David Wallace-Hadrill has suggested that it may have been made at Whitby along with several other sketches in the book (see folio 77 verso; D26242),1 but there is nothing to confirm that suggestion. There is a comparable sketch on folio 86 verso (D26257).
