These rough sketches show coastline or riverbanks around Rotterdam. They may have been taken as Turner made his way towards Dordrecht from Rotterdam via the New Maas, Noord, and Oude Maas rivers that connect the two cities. A church and windmills are visible. An illegible inscription is at centre right.
